Play with motion control! Row your way down a river, punch a statue to pieces, steer race cars and mopeds, and handle a balancing pole while walking a tightrope. Play with the pointer. Drag and drop decorations onto cakes, shoot Boos in haunted house, quickly choose your answer in a game show. Mash those Wii Remote buttons. Jump and pummel your way through a football brawl, hop and run across an obstacle course of spinning platforms. Mario Party 8 includes six brand-new boards, dozens of minigames and many new modes.  "Not as good as other Mario games" 2009-08-09
By kdog (uk)
I was really looking forward to getting this game as I have played the DS version with some friends. In most cases the wii version is by far the best however I thought the Ds version was a lot better than this.

This isn't really the kind of game you can pick up and play- if you want to do the main game the minimum time it can take is 1 hour.

Basically you play with 3 other players(either wii remotes or computers) and travel round a board to try and reach stars. At the end of each players turn you play a mini game to try and earn coins. The mini games are quite fun and you have to do all sorts of different things such as sports, cooking and even painting. If you like the games I would recommend Rayman Raving Rabbit which is more fun.

 "Don't buy this!" 2009-06-07
By J. Holdsworth (uk)
My husband and I lasted an hour playing this and though it was the slowst most tedious game ever. There are not lots of things to do. Esentailly there are five mild varieties of the same tedious board game. Please don't waste your money, we just did and are most disgruntled as a result!

"Great fun for all ages" 2009-03-09

At first, the concept of each game style can be difficult (often frustrating) to grasp, but once you get into it, good clean fun will be had by all.

Probably better suited to the younger age range and parents who wish to play along, this game is easy to pick up and not really physically (or mentally) demanding, which makes for a relaxed game experience.

It's essentially a hybrid of monopoly and snakes-and-ladders with mini games (1-2 minutes each) in between each round of turns to keep you on your toes.

Very good fun, recommmended.

"Mario Party 8 - ok but not as good as mario kart" 2009-02-27
By J. James (England)
I brought this for my son for his birthday after reading pretty good reviews about it. I don't feel it is as good as some of the rave reviews I've read. Decent but average. My 2 older kids 13 and 11 seem to quite like it but I can tell after a few weeks its playtime will dwindle as I don't think it got enough about it to keep them hooked. Disappointing after Mario Kart maybe I was expecting too much as they entirely different games but I was going on fact it a Mario game again.

I love playing this game.

I have it on my Nintendo DS and GameCube and totally love it.

It keeps you busy for hours and i'll never get tired of playing it.
